Welcome to Bivouac2x4

It’s the middle of the week, and the weather as announced that it will be clear and beautiful for the weekend coming up. You would like to go play for a couple of days, camping maybe, do a little fishing or hiking, even thinking about possibly taking that SUV out in your drive way for a little adventure beyond where the pavement ends. But wait… where will I go – you asked? Where would I find a great place to have fun without taking too much chance of getting lost, or worst, just waste an entire weekend driving around in a search of finding a dream spot that may not exist? You may have heard of some remote places out there, but are not quite sure of the details on its location, access, road conditions... Is there a spot for me to fish out there? Will my car make it? Do I have the right gear?

Lots of questions on your mind, and you may be right to worry a little on what is out there, especially if this is all new to you. After all, people without the right gear and knowledge get in trouble every year in what started as a simple and innocent little road trip. Contrarily to what people could have told you, not all dirt roads are equal, and not all roads lead to Rome. On the other hand, you may just have what it takes, and just want something new to venture in. Either way, and for any other possible scenario or reasons in between, we may have some suggestions for you, right here on our website.

introBivouac2x4 was recently founded by my wife and I after many discussions and encouragements from friends and people of all experience levels and backgrounds in off-road traveling and camping. Although it is our brand new baby, we have been avid outdoor enthusiasts for years, and so when it comes to exploring new playgrounds, on 2 or 4 wheels, we just may know a thing or two about it. Of course we would never pretend being experts in anything, we know for a fact that they are plenty of people out there with their own expertise and experience, but with our love to explore, came the need to share. When we meet people, we are always amazed by the huge number among them who just do not dare venture off out of their little part of the world as they know it by fear of the unknown. Even us, many times, have been wishing on some magic source of knowledge to find a great place to enjoy our activities, but unless you go out there and talk to people, or just do it for yourself, that information will just not come knocking at your door.

So here we are. We have been places, on good and bad trips, lead people on excursions, took pictures, told stories, even tried gear and put it all here. We have built this site to share our knowledge, so you can benefit from it as well, and be better prepared for your next adventure. Do we have it all? No, of course not, California alone would take you years to explore all its possibilities and wonders, but over the years we have managed to go through a few, and as time progress, we will update this site with what we have, old and new.

So start by exploring our site, we have lots of great information for you to enjoy, and come back to see us regularly as this site will grow large with new reports and data. Finally, as I mentioned earlier, we are no expert, so we will greatly appreciate any comments, suggestions, or even you sharing your experience with us (email us at: aderoo@bivouac2x4.com).

Go out there, we dare you. Be safe and happy trails.
